๐Ÿ”ฌ Lab Equipment Guide

How to use the 36 interactive apparatus in v7.

What is the Equipment Gallery?

The Equipment Gallery (Tools โ†’ Equipment) is a browseable catalogue of 36 realistic laboratory apparatus rendered in vector graphics (SVG). Every piece appears at the top of relevant simulation pages on a wooden lab bench. Students can click any apparatus to read its description and recommended uses.

Why vector graphics (SVG)?

SVG is text โ€” only a few KB per piece. Pages load instantly even on 2G connections, and the apparatus stays crisp on any screen โ€” laptop, tablet, phone, projector or printout. There are no external images to download.

Interaction patterns

  • Click an apparatus on the lab bench โ†’ opens a modal with its photo-like SVG, description and use cases.
  • Search the Gallery by name (e.g. "burner") or symbol.
  • Filter by subject using the dropdown.
  • Print the gallery as a labelled reference sheet using the browser's print menu.

For teachers

Project the Equipment Gallery on a screen and ask students to identify each apparatus before opening it. Use it as a pre-lab orientation exercise.
